NTC helps with Kids Klub in North Platte

The kids Klub, an after school/summer program for children in the North Platte area, recently enjoyed a job fair/show and tell in North Platte. Along with NTC, the National Guard, the North Platte Fire Department, and the County Sheriff's Department were there. Children also enjoyed a local race car on display and a chance to learn how to lasso.

 

 

 

NTC's Adopt-A-School Partner for the 2009 - 2010 School Year is VALTS/PACES

NTC's newest Adopt-A-School Partner for the 2009-2010 School Year is VALTS/PACES.  Adopt a School is voluntary partnership between Scottsbluff/Gering area businesses and local schools to promote education facilitated by the Scottsbluff/Gering United Chamber of Commerce.  This will be NTC's second year partnering with an area school.  We have kicked off our partnership by attending school year kickoff events at both VALTS and PACES.  Stay tuned for updates on NTC's activities with both schools. 

 

NTC Employees Collect School Supplies for Stuff the Bus:

NTC Employees Collected School Supplies for the United Way of Western Nebraska's Annual Stuff the School Bus event in the month of August as part of NTC's United Way Campaign.   United Way gathers the supplies throughout the communities and distributes them to schools across Western Nebraska including Scottsbluff, Gering, Mitchell, Morrill, Minatare, Harrisburg, Bridgeport, Bayard and Hemingford.  NTC and its employees are proud to support Stuff the bus in making a difference for many youth throughout our community and for sharing in the United Way spirit. 

 

NTC Transports Recyclable Milk Jugs for Kiwanis Playground

NTC Scottsbluff driver Jerry Nortness (above) assists Jim Mendoza of Scottsbluff Environmental Services in loading two 800 pound bales into the back of his truck.  The bales of plastic milk jugs, ten in all, were collected by members of the community and NTC is transporting them free of charge to a Minnesota company for recycling.  The money raised from recycling the plastic is used to purchase components for the Kiwanis  "Trails of Fun" playground project and some of the plastic will be recycled into actual playground components.  The estimated $150,000 playground will be located in Riverside Park and will be constructed by volunteer labor August 12-16 2009 in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain District Kiwanis Convention to be held in Gering and Scottsbluff.

 

NTC Honored at Adopt-A-School Banquet

NTC and it's Adopt-A-School Partners First State Bank and Westmoor Elementary were honored at the 2009 Adopt-A-School Banquet held by the Business/Education Committee of the Scottsbluff/Gering United Chamber of Commerce.  NTC, First State Bank and Westmoor Elementary received an Honorable Mention for the achievement of Outstanding Partner for the 2008-2009 school year.  The Adopt-A-School program is a partnership between area businesses and local schools to promote education.  The mission of the program is to increase and foster communication between Business and Education thus helping to empower students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to meet the challenges of the business world.  Outstanding partners are chosen by a sub-committee of the Chamber’s Business/Education Committee.  The partners are reviewed based on the participation of as many grade levels as possible and if there has been any learning activities as well as activities for enjoyment.  Pictured from left are:  Tori Smith - First State Bank, Tracie Barrett - Physical Education Teacher at Westmoor Elementary and Melissa Price - Marketing Director at NTC.

NTC Car #31 Visits Regional West for United Way Week:

M.W. Motor Sports Car #31 sponsored by NTC was on display at Regional West Medical Center Tuesday, October 28th as part of Regional West's United Way Week. In addition to the car, a 2007 Monte Carlo SS, one of NTC's new Cascadia Freightliners was also on display for the public. Rick Smith driver of the car, and Mike Warren, owner of the car, were on hand to sign autographs and greet the public. Polariod pictures with the car and racing souvenirs were sold at the even with all proceeds to benefit the United Way of Western Nebraska.

 

NTC Gives Big to United Way Stuff the Bus:

On September 9, 2008 the United Way brought its School Bus to NTC's corporate office so NTC and our employees could help "Stuff the Bus" with school supplies given to area children in need. In addition to the boxes of supplies collected by NTC Employees, Brent, Susan and Phillip Holliday (left), presented a check on behalf of NTC for $250.00 to purchase additional school supplies. The KMOR FM Morning Show was also held at NTC in order to increase public awareness about Stuff the Bus.

NTC Golfs for TeamMates:

Adrian Fiala, voice of the Huskers, hosted this annual event which raised money for Tom Osborne's Teammates program. The TeamMates Mentoring Program currently provides a mentor for over 3,000 youth across Nebraska and Iowa.  The goal of the program is to see youth graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. To reach this goal, youth meet one hour per week with a caring adult who serves as a mentor. Mentors are volunteers from the community who have dedicated themselves to making a difference in the life of a young person. Mentors give youth a sense of hope, purpose and vision.

NTC had two teams.The team made up of John Placek-Parker Hannifan, Lyn Worner-ABF, Jay Utterback-Orthman's, Bob Schneider-NTC and ex-Husker--Jon Hesse took second place. Tom Osborne was there as well as Husker legends, Jeff Kinney, Joe Blahak, Bill Janssen and many more.

 

2007 Spring Fling:    NTC sponsored a booth for the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Department at the 2007 "Spring Fling," a community event attended by an estimated 2,900 people March 10 & 11. The sheriff's department set up its "Fatal Vision" presentation to show the dangers associated with alcohol and young people and emphasize good decision making. Sheriff Jim Lawson, deputies Mark Bliss, Rob Johnston, Bryon Miller and Jason Perkins and reserve deputies Misty Hessler and Steve Woolsey manned the booth for the Sheriff's Department.

                                         

       

 

 
2007 Scotts Bluff County Special Olympics:    The employees of NTC raised money at their Christmas party for a donation to the Scotts Bluff County Special Olympics. Special Olympics participant Robin Lacey and coach Larry Lacey accepted the check for $600 from NTC Marketing Director Mark McCarthy. Representing the Nebraska State Patrol, partners for the Nebraska Special Olympics, is Trooper Chuck Elley.

 
2006 Scottsbluff-Gering Chamber of Commerce Community Pride Award:    The Scottsbluff-Gering United Chamber of Commerce recognized NTC with one of its 2006 Community Pride Awards. The awards were presented to businesses that had made significant improvements to the appearance of their property or buildings.

 
2006 Gering Lightning Car Wash:    Washing an NTC tractor was a bit of fun relief for members of the Gering Lightning softball team during their car wash to raise funds for the team.

 
2006 Nebraska Quarter Launch:    NTC was among the corporate sponsors that helped Nebraska launch its state quarter. NTC worked in conjunction with statewide committees and the US Mint to promote and celebrate the introduction of the Nebraska State Quarter into circulation.

 
2006 Kearney Children's Museum/Tri City Storm:   Through it's sponsorship of the Tri City Storm hockey team, NTC was able to make a $500 donation to the Kearney Children's Museum. NTC Grand Island Terminal Manager Jerry Neville presented the check at a presentation during intermission at a Storm game. The NTC Airship has flown at Storm games since 2003, dropping prizes to fans during intermissions.

  

 
Truck Full of Love 2005:   NTC annually provides a truck to serve as a drop-off point for donations for the local Toys For Tots program. After the toys, clothing and other items are collected at First State Bank, NTC delivers the donations to the Scottsbluff Knights of Columbus Hall, where volunteers clean and repair the donations to be given to needy children and families in the area. More than 100 families are touched by the program each year.

 
Hurricane Katrina relief, 2005:   NTC truckload division driver Randy Hoerler secures a load of supplies to be delivered to Mississippi to help provide relief for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Donations gathered at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff were transported to the Gulf Coast region. NTC donated the use of its truck and Hoerler's time.

       

 
Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Department and Gering Police Department drug enforcement:   Since 2003, donations from NTC have been instrumental in the purchase and training of drug enforcement dogs for the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Department and the Gering Police Department. In the photo on the left, NTC President Brent Holliday presents a check to Sheriff's Deputy Trent Zwickl to aid the department's fundraising efforts. On the right is Gering Police Officer James Jackson and his dog, Rony.

                 

 
Supporting our troops:   When the first wave of National Guard soldiers based in Scottsbluff returned from the war in Iraq in 2004, Nebraska Panhandle residents lined streets and highways showing their support with flags and yellow ribbons. A bus carrying the returning troops was led by a police escort to the National Guard Armory in Scottsbluff, where their families anxiously waited for their arrival. NTC was on hand to show its support with a 53-foot trailer wrapped in a yellow ribbon.

    

 
2002 Christmas Party:     The employees of the Scottsbluff terminal held a raffle again this year at their annual Christmas party to benefit the local Special Olympics. Proceeds from the raffle and funds matched by the company totaled $504. The donation will be used to help with travel expenses for about 40 athletes from the panhandle area to travel to events in eastern Nebraska.
December 2002:     Nebraska Transport was an important player in delivering a "Truck Full of Love" in Scottsbluff Dec. 14th. Donations collected by the First State Bank were loaded into the NTC trucks and delivered to the Knights of Columbus volunteers who clean and repair the toys and prepare them for the "Toys for Tots" program. Nebraska Transport Company has been delivering these donations for the past 15 years.

Dec 15, 2001:     NTC held their annual Christmas Party at the Elk's Lodge. NTC donated prizes for a raffle held that evening. The proceeds were to be donated to the Local Special Olympics Program through the Nebraska State Patrol. The employees purchased raffle tickets totaling $320.00. Brent Holliday, President of Nebraska Transport, stated that he was very proud of his employees and would match their contribution. On Dec. 20, 2001, $640.00 was presented to the Local Special Olympics Program.

 A big thank you to "TEAM NTC".

 

On March 16th, an Easter Egg hunt was held for the children of NTC families.
